Mazatlan is the second largest coastal city in Mexico and home to one of the largest commercial ports. This is a very versatile hot spot! The city is divided up into three “zones,” the port and downtown zones are at the southern end, while just to the north is the “Zona Dorada” which is home to most of the tourist attractions and hotels.
Mazatlan offers all the usual water activities as well as parasailing, surfing and deep sea fishing. It is also one of Mexico’s premier beach resort areas and has plenty of beach side activities. Whether you feel like checking out the vendors, going to a bistro or bar, or just feel like kicking back getting a tan - take your pick because there’s lots to do here.
Of course you can find plenty of shrimp here, but that’s not all, the dining in Mazatlan covers a wide variety of flavors from American to Mexican and of course Seafood. You’ll also find familiar fast food restaurants in case you get homesick. Many of the restaurants here are casual and reasonably priced.
The days in Mazatlan offer many activities and sights to see. You can enjoy relaxing sea cruises, the Acuario Mazatlan (an exotic aquarium - which is also very cheap), beautiful old churches and of course you can always go island hopping. So whether you’re feeling adventurous or just want to take in some of the magnificent sights Mazatlan is an incredible spring break hot spot - no matter how much or how little you want to do.
When the sun goes down, the parties get started. You’ll find everything you’re looking for from bars and lounges to hot nightclubs and discos - many of which are open until 4:00 a.m. So get ready to party the night away!
Getting around Mazatlan is easy, there are public busses which usually run until about 11:00 p.m. and are cheap. There are plenty of taxis which are also pretty cheap, and there’s also the open-air taxi’s which are a cross between a golf cart and a carriage.
One of the best things about spring break in Mazatlan is that it can be done on a budget! When it comes to where you’re going to stay you have 8 miles of hotels to choose from. While many of them were built years ago, they’ve been renovated. Not to mention you can still find budget beach front hotels here as well as more modern and 5 star hotels.
Mazatlan continues to become more and more popular with students and for many good reasons. Most importantly because it is known for providing the things that spring breakers need - sun, beach and service.
